4-day Morocco desert tour from Marrakech to the Sahara of Zagora & Merzouga

Experience the very best bits and pieces of Moroccan culture through our private guided tours! This tour starts at the city of Marrakech, leading to Zagora and then the Merzouga Desert, for a maximum Moroccan experience. Just like the rest of our tours, it is customizable and can be personalized to fit your plans.

Day 1 :Marrakech – Ouarzazate – Zagora ( 6 HOURS DRIVE )

This 4 days desert tour begins when we pick you up from your accommodation at Marrakech and start driving through the scenic High Atlas Mountains to Zagora, our destination. This road trip is one of the most exciting ones you can have in Morocco, considering that we will be driving through the Tizin Tichka mountain pass (the highest one in all of Morocco!).

After enjoying our drive and stopping for cool pics, we will get to one of Morocco’s most important historical locations, the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou. This Kasbah holds great value in filmmaking history, since it is backdrop where many historical movies were made, such as Gladiator, Lawrence of Arabia and Kingdom of Heaven.

After exploring the Kasbah and having lunch, we will continue our journey to finally arrive at the town of Zagora. Once we get there, we will first check into a traditional Kasbah hotel to spend the night.

Day 2 :Zagora – Tazarine – Merzouga ( 6 HOURS DRIVE )

Today’s journey is going to be a special, since we will be heading to the Merzouga desert after we have breakfast. On the way there, we will make a visit to the Alnif Oasis to relax and have lunch. After that, we will finally get to the town of Merzouga, the gateway to the Moroccan desert. We will check into a hotel to unpack and shower.

This is where we will get to enjoy the magnificent desert scenery while riding on the back of camels through the sunset. The camel ride will take us to the hidden desert camp where we will have tasty traditional dishes for dinner. You will experience the genuine desert culture with Berber music and drums playing around you, before finally going to sleep in nomad-style tents.

Day 3 : Merzouga – Tinghir – Boumalne Dades ( 6 HOURS DRIVE )

This next morning, we will wake up to the most beautiful sunrise in the middle of the Desert. You can enjoy the area for a bit by walking around the dunes, before heading to breakfast. We will have breakfast in Merzouga then leave towards the famous Todra gorges, which is a hiking spot that attracts enthusiasts from all over the world.

On our way there, we will be driving through the fascinating Tinghir Oasis and palm plantations. Finally, we will get to the gorges of Todra, which will be a truly amazing sight to behold.

After lunch and a walk through the gorges, we will drive to the valley of Dades and explore the area called “the road of the thousand Kasbahs” before heading to the Riad where we will spend the night.

Day 4 : Boumalne Dades – Kasbah Ait Ben Hadou – Marrakech ( 6 HOURS DRIVE )

After breakfast at our Riad, we will continue driving through the valley of Dades and “the road of the thousand Kasbahs”. This road will also lead to the famous rose city, Kalaat Mgouna, where all of Morocco’s rose-derived products are made.

We will head back to Ouarzazate city next, where we can take a tour of the cinema studios and museum. After this, we will spend some more time exploring the Kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, which is known for being the backdrop of many historical movies. The Ait Ben Haddou Kasbah is also a UNESCO world heritage site.

After having lunch at the Kasbah, we will travel through the beautiful High Atlas Mountains once more to return to Marrakech city where our tour started.
